Support small and independent this year!

We have all felt the effects of COVID-19 in one way or another. This year has been one of the most trying for us all.

Many have paid the biggest price of all in losing a loved one, or have witnessed the pain of this loss with a close family member or friend. This year has left us feeling isolated, and forced us to think differently about how we act, where we work, how we communicate, at some point it has impacted an aspect of our life one way or another.

Many businesses have suffered and have had to find other ways to reach their customers.

Supporting small and independent businesses isn’t anything new and, as a family run business, we know first hand just how important this is.

Here are just a few suggestions of why supporting independent businesses can have a HUGE impact!

  1. Small businesses make a positive impact on the local economy.

Small businesses tend to buy from local suppliers. Here at Osius, we source all of our ingredients organically and always buy British when in season. Our beef and chicken carcasses are always from British organic farms. So, when you buy from us you are inadvertently supporting local British farms too.

  1. Help create local jobs.

It is important to continue to support independent businesses to help keep local jobs alive, and with the added consideration of travel limits and safety, many people will be hoping to gain or retain local employment.

  1. It’s often the more sustainable shopping choice.

Small businesses often produce far less emissions than larger companies. This can sometimes be due to sourcing products and materials locally and ethically. And, although not always true, small businesses are often more conscious of their local community and welfare as they are in the very heart of it!

Here at Osius, we support nose to tail farming from British farms. This means that every part of the animal is used and therefore nothing goes to waste, making the whole process more sustainable and ethical. Nose to tail ensures that all the resources that went into creating the product are savoured and used in their entirety.
